Newsletter for Transfer Students

The Transfer Connection

Greetings!

Be sure to join us for Ice Cream, tomorrow, Thursday, September 4 from 5:30 - 6:30 in Love Library Instruction Room (110 Love South) . All transfer students are invited. There are other new students who are not straight from high school They have many of the same questions you have. You will also meet students who transferred successfully, and representatives from many of UNL's colleges. There will not be a formal program, but we will introduce hosts and college representatives about 5:45 pm.

Know where your student fees go. You pay student fees for a variety of services, so get your money's worth and use the resources--like the University Health Center. You may think about them when you need a prescription filled or if you sprain your ankle, but did you know they have dental services? Confidential counseling for a variety of personal issues? Specialty clinics? Physical therapy? On-line screening? Find more at http://health.unl.edu/students/clinic/

Meet your librarian. One of the places your student fees go is to the library, a very important resource--or should I say resources, as there are multiple locations and services at UNL Libraries. To better assist you, there are subject specialists who know the resources available in different areas of study. Take some time to learn about the services and resources available at the UNL Libraries and how you can access many of them on-line. http://iris.unl.edu/ Or take a small group tour of Love Library especially for transfer and non-traditional students.

Want to make a video for a class presentation, or check out some cool DVDs? Need to find that scholarly journal? Or are you seeking a quiet place to study?
Take a 15 minute tour of Love Library and get the scoop! Meet in the lobby of Love Library South, with tour leader Kate Adams, the Libraries' coordinator for undergraduate services.

Tour times are:
Mon. Sept. 8 10:00 am
Tues. Sept. 9 3:30 pm
Wed. Sept. 10 10:30 am
If you can't make any of these times, contact Kate Adams at 472-2560 or kadams1@unl.edu
