Dr. Damuth serves as a national CUR (Council of Undergraduate Research) Councilor (Undergraduate Research Program Division), and is a member of the National Collegiate Honors Council, and the American Association of Colleges and Universities. She has made numerous presentations at the national meetings of all these organizations mostly presenting on the importance of undergraduate research to undergraduate education, and the assessment of undergraduate research.

In 2002 Dr. Damuth was asked to oversee the preparation of UNL students for nationally competitive scholarships and awards. Her University service includes serving on the Admission, Advising and Retention Group (AARG), the Study Abroad Advisory Group, the Multicultural Student Development and Retention Committee, Cather Circle, Phi Beta Delta, and the Transition to University Task Force.

She holds a B.A. from Vassar College, and M.A., M. Phil. and Ph.D. degrees from Columbia University. Her own research interests revolve around the Italian cantata in the 17th and 18th centuries, most specifically those of Alessandro Scarlatti. She has a courtesy appointment in the School of Music where she has taught Introduction to Graduate Studies and the Classical Survey Courses. She regularly teaches in the University Honors Program including classes on scholarship preparation, and music history classes: Music and Culture at the Court of Versailles and Music in Film.
