Special Announcement
Welcome Back!
Hope your holiday break was a happy and restful one! Second semester is beginning and with it another application deadline is approaching for the UCARE program. This year the deadline is Friday, February 15.
Over 400 undergraduates at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln are currently working one-on-one with faculty mentors in over 60 disciplines through UCARE (or Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experiences). This innovative program enriches the academic experience of undergraduate students at UNL by allowing them to explore a field of particular interest and learn alongside faculty mentors in a creative activity or research area. Students are paid through payroll; funds are generated by the Pepsi Endowment, created by the contract between the University and the Pepsi-Cola Company, or by the University Program of Excellence. (To learn more about the UCARE program, please visit the UCARE website or visit with Laura Damuth, Director of Undergraduate Research, ucare@unlnotes.unl.edu or 472-5024.)

NU-PATHS Scholar Information Workshop - Jan. 18
If students are interested in continuing their education in the health sciences or graduate studies at UNMC, this information session is for them. To learn more about the program before the workshop, the web link is http://www.unl.edu/ous/student_programs/nupaths.shtml.
The Office of Undergraduate Studies would like to invite interested students to an informational workshop about the NU-PATHS scholarship program on Friday, January 18, from 3:00-4:30 pm at the Nebraska Union.
The NU-PATHS scholarship program is designed to help students who have demonstrated background of economic or educational disadvantage or first generation to attend a four-year institution. The NU-PATHS scholarship is a collaborative effort between the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). The NU-PATHS program assists selected students in their undergraduate pre-health or graduate studies related curricula at the UNL campus, and guarantees admission to the selected UNMC program upon successful, and timely, completion of the student's undergraduate pre-professional program of study or related bachelor's degree. The NU-PATHS scholarship also provides full undergraduate tuition until the student matriculates into their professional program.
Students are encouraged to take advantage of the informational workshop to learn more about the process of applying, benefits of the scholarship and requirements. Please feel free to contact Maggan Quist, NU-PATHS Coordinator, with any questions at 472-2278 or mquist2@unl.edu. Her office hours are M/T 8:00-2:00 pm and Wed 8:00-4:00 pm.
