198H Writing the Personal Statement
Call No.: 7745, Section: 003, 04:00-04:50p, Mondays
NRC classroom 1105–class limit: 10Graded (2 credits)
We are rarely taught how to approach and write the personal statement. Yet this one essay can make or break your application for scholarships, for graduate school or for professional school. This semester-long course will focus on how to brainstorm about the content of the personal statement, including a serious examination of the intellectual and personal experiences that have motivated you in college. By the end of the semester you should have completed a solid draft.
UCARE Deadline
The deadline for UCARE applications will be Friday Feb. 12. We will be moving over to an online-only application system. Faculty who are seeking students for UCARE opportunities and want to post opportunities on the UCARE website should send a brief description of the project and contact information to ucare@unlnotes.unl.edu.
ACE Assessment
Progress made on Blackboard tool for submitting samples of student work
We continue to make great progress toward the completion of a Blackboard-based tool that will be used for submitting samples of student work from individual ACE courses. We are currently working with colleges to organize demonstrations of the tool, and anticipate having it available for instructors to use before the end of fall semester. For more information please contact Kelly Dick (kdick3@unl.edu).
