OUS Staff Updates

As of July 1, Jessica Jonson's new title is Director of Institutional Assessment. Jessica will continue with her present responsibilities which are to 1) facilitate the development and implementation of outcomes assessment activities with college administrators and faculty, 2) communicate UNL's progress on assessment for institutional accreditation and other audiences (i.e. Board of Regents) and 3) contribute to the development and implementation of institutional assessment initiatives by providing expertise about effective assessment processes, methods for assessing student learning, and creating a culture for assessment.

We are also pleased that Andy Shadwinkel, Director of Marketing for Admissions, has agreed to .10FTE appointment in the Office of Undergraduate Studies. Andy will be assisting OUS faculty and staff with communication and marketing of programs.

E.N. Thompson Forum Features Dialogue on Ethanol

The next lecture in the E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues takes place on Monday, October 15 at 7 p.m. at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. This lecture marks the debut of the Charles and Linda Wilson Dialogue on Domestic Issues. "Ethanol: Fueling Debate" will feature two speakers—Douglas Durante, Executive Director of the Clean Fuels Development Coalition and Jerry Taylor, Senior Fellow at The Cato Institute. The Dialogue will be moderated by Bill Lambrecht, Washington Bureau Chief for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. More information about the Wilson Dialogue is available here: http://enthompson.unl.edu.

Prior to the lecture, Dr. Richard K. Perrin, Roberts Professor of Agricultural Economics at UNL will present a pre-talk to provide background for the discussion. The pre-talk will be at 6:30 in the Lied Center's Steinhart Room.

The Wilson Dialogue is sponsored by Dr. and Mrs. Charles Wilson whose vision is to gives Nebraskans the opportunity to explore two sides of an issue important to the state and the nation. Wilson is currently the chair of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.

All Thompson Forum events are free and open to the public. Tickets are required and are available at the Lied Center, the Nebraska Union and Westfield Gateway.

PEARL Due Dates for PEARL Programs

The 2007 - 2008 PEARL plans were due on October 1st for all PEARL programs.

PEARL Peer Reviewer Recalibration Meeting

The PEARL Peer Reviewers will meet on Friday, October 12th for discussion, practice, and reexamination of the PEARL rubric. The meeting will be held in the East Campus Union from 8:30 - 10:30 AM. PEARL peer reviews will be occurring during the month of October.
