Special Announcement
Welcome from OASIS
On behalf of the Office of Academic Support and Intercultural Services (OASIS) we extend a warm Husker welcome to all new and returning students to UNL. Our doors are open for business to serve all students, however our office has been given the important task of providing focused services on first generation and minority students. Thus far, we have had several events that have attracted a large number of UNL students and administrators. We began the year with a Multicultural Welcome Back Barbeque which featured all of UNL's finest minority Greek fraternities and sororities. The welcome was followed by a important orientation by which Career Services and OASIS has partnered to provide SIPS/NU Connections students with an opportunity to develop an early academic/career game plan for their future. OASIS has sponsored student luncheons, movie nights and academic support workshops all geared towards enhancing student's growth. Our mission is to provide services and programs that foster the academic, cultural, social and professional development of students. If you would like additional information on OASIS, please go to our website http://www.unl.edu/oasis_culturecenter.
Best Wishes

Announcements and Events
Mid-Semester Checkpoint
Please encourage first year and entering transfer students to attend UNL's third annual Mid Semester: Checking It Out! September 25, 26, 27 or 28 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Nebraska Union. Last year over 1500 students attended the event and evaluations indicated the students found the event to be very helpful, as well as enjoyable. There will be free snacks and Pepsi products again this year, as well as skits by the NSE leaders and sessions led by UNL faculty and staff. Pat McBride, Director of New Student Enrollment, is providing great leadership again this year and you will be hearing from both Pat and Rita Kean about the event.
