April Schueths

My name is April Schueths and I am excited to teach the sociology courses for the William H. Thompson Scholars Program. My teaching and research interests are focused on social stratification with a particular emphasis on inequalities surrounding race and ethnicity, class, and gender. Within this broad area, I have a variety of interests centered on the impact of public policies and law on diverse families, including educational inequality. I earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I received a master’s degree in social work from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and am a Certified Social Worker and Licensed Mental Health Provider in the state of Nebraska. I recently earned a Ph.D. in sociology with my dissertation focusing on the impact of ambiguous immigration policies on the experiences of adult couples with differing legal status.
