What's New Fall 2007

Philosophy Department News Fall 2007

The UNL Department of Philosophy is pleased to welcome three new faculty members this fall. They greatly enhance the department's strengths in ethics, epistemology and philosophy of mind. Our new additions are:

David Henderson (epistemology and the philosophy of social science)
David Sobel (ethics and metaethics)
Janice Dowell (mind, language, and metaphysics)

UNL is well represented at the 2007 meeting of the Central States Philosophical Association:

Three philosophy graduate students (Patrick Arens, Leo Iacono, and Sruthi Rothenfluch) will present papers.
One graduate student (Christopher McCammon) will be a commentator.
UNL philosophy professor (David Henderson) will also comment on a paper.
One of our former graduates (Heimir Geirsson) will give the Presidential Address.

UNL also has a presence at the Midwest Epistemology Workshop:

Al Casullo and David Henderson will both be presenting papers.

We hope to host the next annual Midwest Epistemology Workshop here at UNL!

The philosophy department also has an exciting speaker program this year.

Upcoming guest speakers include:

Frank Jackson - November 1, Evan's Lecture and November 2, 2007
Kent Bach - November 12, 2007
Talks are given in 1007 Oldfather Hall on the UNL Campus.
