Edward Abplanalp is a philosophy graduate student at UNL. Edward did his undergraduate work at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. There he received a B.A. in Mathematics in 1990, a B.A. in Geography in 1992, and a B.A. in Philosophy in 1995. He received an M.A.in Philosophy from UNL in 2001. His area of specialization is ethics and he is working on a dissertation on a contractarian conception of environmental justice. He is an assistant professor of philosophy and religion at Illinois Central College His web page.

Patrick Arens is a philosophy graduate student and teaching assistant at UNL.He received his Bachelors from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2006 where he majored in Philosophy and minored in German. He considers himself genuinely interested in all areas of philosophical inquiry. However, currently his specific interests rest at the cross-roads of three fields: Phil. Mind, Phil. Language and Evolutionary Theory. But his interest in Metaphysics and Logic (namely, Set Theory) is not to be understated. Lastly, he is a notably skeptical thinker, and has been described by his wife as "annoyingly skeptical". email
Teresa Bartoletti is a philosophy graduate student and teaching assistant at UNL. email
William Bauer is a philosophy graduate student and teaching assistant at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln . His dissertation research concerns the ontology of pure dispositional properties, i.e., dispositions without causal bases in other properties. In future research projects he aims to work on issues in both the philosophy of science and mind that overlap with the metaphysics of dispositions: in the philosophy of science he would like to investigate emergence, reduction, and complex systems, especially as related to dispositional systems, and in the philosophy of mind his interest is in reconciling the dispositional and categorical dimensions of beliefs. He also has strong interests in epistemological contextualism. He completed an M.A. in philosophy at Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) and a B.A. in biology at Illinois Institute of Technology. email
Brent S. Braga is a philosophy graduate student at UNL. He received his B.A. from Simpson College in 2001 and his M.A. from UNL in 2006. His primary philosophical interest is in the philosophy of mind, as well as related issues in philosophy of language, epistemology, and metaphysics. Brent is also a rabid fan of Chicago Cubs baseball. While he believes it is possible that the team will win a World Series in his lifetime, he is unable to conceive of it happening. email
David Chavez is a philosophy graduate student and teaching assistant at UNL. He received his B.A. and M.A. in Philosophy from the University of New Mexico, after which he taught philosophy at a community college. Among other things, David is currently interested in problems in the Philosophy of Mind, such as the nature of mental states and their contents. He has an abiding interest in Metaethics. email
Mark Decker is a philosophy graduate student at UNL. He received a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Washington (Seattle) in 1998. His main philosophical interests are in moral philosophy (metaethics and normative ethical theory), action theory, and philosophy of mind. Outside of philosophy, he loves dogs, especially poodles and weimaraners. Mark is a die hard fan of Rocket From The Crypt and Mystery Science Theater 3000. email
Matthew Dee is a philosophy graduate student and teaching assistant at UNL. He received a B.A. in Philosophy and a B.A in English from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 2005. His primary interests are in Epistemology, but he is also interested in Ethics and the Philosophy of language. Outside of Philosophy, Matthew is a religious fan of the Minnesota Vikings and a terrible but steadily improving golfer. email
Luke Elwonger is a philosophy graduate student and teaching assistant at UNL. He earned a B.A. in Philosophy and Chemistry from UC Berkeley. He worked for a short time as a chemist before returning to philosophy. His main interests are Epistemology and Metaethics. Beyond his professional interests he also maintains a tumultuous love affair with surrealist and existentialist literature. email

Charlie Gilkey is a philosophy graduate student at UNL. He received his B.S. in Philosophy from the University of Central Arkansas in 2002 and his M.A. in Philosophy from UNL in 2007. His main philosophical interests are in political/social philosophy, normative ethics, and applied ethics. He loves writing, reading, playing guitar, graphic designing, and coding web apps in what little time he has leftover. email
Danielle Hampton is a philosophy graduate student at UNL. Danielle received her B.A. in philosophy from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania in 1996 and her M.A. in philosophy from Colorado State University in 1999. Her primary philosophical interests are in early modern philosophy and philosophy of mind. She is currently working on her dissertation tentatively entitled Locke's Theory of Mental Content.
Abla Hasan is a philosophy graduate student at UNL. She was a graduate teaching assistant at Damascus University where she earned a B.A. in 2000 and a postgraduate Diploma of high study in philosophy in 2001. She is a Fullbright grantee.email

Andrew Hickman is a philosophy graduate student at UNL and received his B.A. in Philosophy from Creighton University. With a strong, undergraduate, background in the physical sciences, his philosophical interests are broad, believing philosophy to be a massive interdisciplinary project pivoting about the everyday human condition. email
Cliff Hill is a philosophy graduate student at UNL.He graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2002 with a B.A. in History and a minor in Humanities. By chance he took a Philosophy of Mind class the second to last semester before graduating and he was hooked. Since then he has become interested in various philosophical topics like Philosophy of Mind, Metaphysics, Philosophy of Biology, Epistemology (specifically Epistemic and Doxastic Logic), Philosophy of Mathematics/Logic, and Philosophy of Science. His interests outside of philosophy include camping, mind-rotting video games, and “The Simpsons.” email

Joel Hunt is a philosophy graduate student at UNL. Joel received an A.A. degree in Liberal Arts from De Anza College in Cupertino, CA in 1985; he received his B.A. in Biblical/Theological Studies from Bethel College in St. Paul, MN in 1987; he received an M.Div. degree from Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN in 1991. After spending six years in full-time ministry, Joel decided to pursue a career in teaching. Joel received his M.A. in philosophy from San Jose State University in San Jose, CA in 2004. Prior to coming to UNL Joel taught graduate level theology courses for five years. Joel’s primary philosophical interest is philosophical theology. Joel’s other philosophical interests include hermeneutics, the philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, ethics and political philosophy. Joel married his wife, Kara in 1985, and they have two children, Tamara and Tad. email
Andrew Jaeger is a philosophy graduate student at UNL. He received his BA in Philosophy from Benedictine College in 2008. He enjoys studying all areas of philosophical inquiry but currently his primary interests are Metaphysics, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Mind, and Philosophy of Religion. He engages in a daily struggle whether to pursue his passion for brewing beer over Philosophy, but due to his budget he must put first things first. He also enjoys lifting heavy random objects as an alternative to conventional weightlifting. email
Ryan Korczak is a philosophy graduate student at UNL. He received his BA in philosophy from Bemidji State University in 2008. His philosophical interests include ethics (especially metaethics and biomedical ethics), philosophy of religion, and philosophy of science. Outside of philosophy he enjoys reading, writing, movies (particularly bad Syfy channel movies), and television. He also is quite fond of cold weather and cannot go a single day without referencing Seinfeld several times.

Tim Loughlinis a philosophy graduate student and teaching assistant at UNL. Tim received his B.A. in philosophy from SUNY Geneseo in 2004. He is interested in epistemology (particularly justification), metaethics (particularly moral epistemology), and metaphilosophy (particularly the role of intuitions in philosophical theory). Kiel Moreland is a graduate student at UNL. Kiel graduated from Wichita State University in 2007 with his B.A. in philosophy. His primary interests are in the philosophies of Donald Davidson, theories of rationality, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of religion. When he is not studying Kiel prefers being with his wife, Kelly, and he also enjoys going to church, playing, listening, and writing music, reading and writing fantasy fiction as well as writing books and essays on various philosophical issues in his areas of interest.email
Justin Moss is a philosophy graduate student and teaching assistant at UNL. He is from northern Idaho and received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Idaho in 2004 and 2006, respectively. His current interests are in ethics and social-political philosophy. He has previously taught or been a teaching assistant at the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID, and the College of Saint Mary and Southeast Community College in Lincoln. Outside of philosophy, he enjoys classic literature, nautical fiction, German history, travel, music, badminton, and cycling (when time allows).

Steven Swartzer is a philosophy graduate student and teaching assistant at UNL. He received his B.A. from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities 2003 in philosophy and political science, minoring in economics. His main philosophical interests are in ethics, metaethics, and political/social philosophy. He is also planning to continue his research in jurisprudence and the philosophy of the social sciences (primarily economics)--especially, but not limited to, the overlap of these fields with ethics and social/political theory.email
Adam Thompson is a philosophy graduate student and teaching assistant at UNL. Adam received his B.A. in philosophy from Ball State University (Muncie, IN) in 2003 and his MA in philosophy from the University of Wyoming (Laramie, WY) in 2007. He is interested in epistemology and metaphysics (broadly construed), metaethics (particularly moral epistemology and reasons), and metaphilosophy. Adam enjoys, among other things, a wide variety of outdoor activities (esp. camping, fishing, hiking, climbing, biking, \ and snowboarding), live music, and laughing. email

Seiichiro Yasuda is a philosophy graduate student at UNL Once in cognitive research psychology (BA in psychology, 1997), he quit it (and a Ph.D. program) in 2001, to question its fundamental assumption, that mind is a representational system. Having privately studied some mathematics and logic, he went to the University of Houston for MA in philosophy (received in 2007). He is interested in re-thinking of “synchronic-semantic-descriptive” notions like representation and truth (among others) from a “diachronic-pragmatic-normative” point of view. He likes aikido.
