Philosophy 299 involves working on your own on material, under an instructor's guidance. An instructor must agree to work with you before you sign up for this course. If you are considering taking an independent study, you should think of a project, and ask an instructor if they will guide your work in that area. (The undergraduate advisors, or other instructors, can help you decide which instructors to ask.)

The requirements are negotiated between the student and the instructor. Typically, they involve reading, meeting with the instructor at least once each week, and writing at least one paper.

Prerequisite: Permission.
