An intensive study of some main problems in metaphysics, especially universals and particulars, the relation of mind and matter, the categories of the real, criteria of identity, and existential propositions. Readings mainly from recent philosophers.
Prerequisites: All 400-level philosophy courses have a prerequisite of 9 hours of philosophy, or permission of the instructor. All 800-level philosophy courses have a prerequisite of graduate standing, or permission of the instructor.
Frequency: Philosophy 418/818 is offered once every two years.
