The mission of PIESL is multifaceted. In addition to the operation of the Intensive English Program, we are responsible for an array of services relevant to the language needs of non-native English speakers at UNL and in the Lincoln community. These include providing language instruction for university credit; helping prepare international graduate students for appointments to teaching assistantships; and conducting English language proficiency assessment of prospective, incoming, and current UNL students.
Credit English For Academic Purposes (CEAP)
These classes, coordinated by PIESL, are designed to give students the extra language support they need Credit English For Academic Purposes.
Institute for International Teaching Assistants
The Institute for International Teaching Assistants is offered by the Office of Graduate Studies in cooperation with PIESL faculty.
Testing Services
PIESL provides a number of English language testing services to the UNL community.
