Brenda has been teaching in the PIESL program at UNL for over 25 years. Her professional interests include language acquisition and use, as well as the ways in which creative forms of expression such as poetry and music can facilitate language use. She has a keen interest in academic composition and in creative writing, as well. In addition to spending her time with PIESL and with the Learning Disabilities Project at UNL, Brenda has published and presented widely, including a 2010 presentation in Hong Kong, China. A grandmother with three grown children and five grandchildren, Brenda enjoys listening to classical and indigenous folk music, cooking, playing the piano, reading with her grandchildren, and writing poetry.  She enjoys hearing from former students and takes great delight in their achievements both at and post-UNL.
