Sophia was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. Her interest in learning English led her to the United States in 1995 where she earned a master’s degree in TESOL from Michigan State University. She returned to Korea in 1998 and started a successful English language school for young learners in Suwon, Korea. She moved back to the United States with her family in 2003. Since that time, she has developed curriculum and taught writing and speaking/listening classes at Northwood University and taught language courses at Central Michigan University. She joined the faculty at UNL in the fall of 2013. She likes reading, listening to music, and watching a variety of sports.
