The Center for Great Plains Studies is pleased to sponsor a variety of events during the year including the Paul A. Olson Seminars in Great Plains Studies and an interdisciplinary conference.

Great Plains Conference

The Center for Great Plains Studies sponsors an interdisciplinary conference yearly. Past conference themes include environment and culture, ethnicity, literature, art, Native Americans, climate change, bison, religion, migration, homesteading, and Lewis and Clark. Papers presented at the symposium often are published in the Center's scholarly journals.

Paul A. Olson Seminars in Great Plains Studies

The seminars offer an opportunity for interested scholars, students and members of the community at attend presentations on various topics related to the Great Plains. The seminars are named for Paul A. Olson, the first director of the Center for Great Plains Studies, who instituted and moderated the seminars starting in 1979. The seminars, offered monthly during the academic year, are free and open to the public.
