Purpose
Project NETS: Nebraska Educational Transition Specialists is designed to prepare secondary educators as transition specialists.
The project is open to individuals with a Bachelors degree in vocational or special education who are serving as a secondary teacher or vocational rehabilitation counselor to earn the special services endorsement of School Transition Specialist.
Program objectives:
- Knowledge
of academic, social, and transition needs;
- Identification of family needs and community resources;
- Knowledge of curricular and instructional alternatives;
- Techniques for integration of adolescents and young adults into academic
settings and work experiences;
- Knowledge of transition education, community-based education, and;
- Evaluation of outcomes for the transition process
