Research Interests

Water availability is the major limitation to plant productivity. My laboratory is working on drought and salt tolerance, using genomics approaches, particularly proteomics. We are focused on the signaling pathway and how it regulates the stress response. Currently we are working on identifying the protein kinases and phosphatases in the pathway and the proteins they interact with. These functional roles are then confirmed using RNAi "knockouts." The long term goal of the laboratory is to understand the stress signaling pathway in sufficient detail to improve the drought and salt tolerance of plants.
