We offer programs in graduate study that:

  • emphasize the development of research and teaching excellence
  • establish collegial partnerships between students and faculty
  • develop cross-fertilization of ideas between specializations in the context of a rigorous, but flexible, training program

Program areas are small enough to offer individual attention to each graduate student yet large enough to provide a broadly-based foundation for research and scholarship.

Graduate students quickly become involved in the department's diverse research activities, teaching opportunities, applied practica and internships, and governance processes.

Biopsychology Dr. Rick A. Bevins Emphasis on animal behavior, behavioral pharmacology, and behavioral neuroscience with research interests in animal cognition and intelligence, bird song, drug addiction, and animal models of mental disorders

Clinical Dr. David DiLillo
Examples of Program of Study Emphasis include clinical and experimental psychopathology, family and relationship violence, forensic psychology, mental health policy, and treatment process and outcome

Cognitive Dr. John Flowers Research opportunities especially in human perception and attention, memory, learning, and decision making

Developmental Dr. Lisa Crockett
Offered in collaboration with the faculty in the Department of Educational Psychology at the Teachers College

Law-Psychology Dr. Rich Wiener Under the dual sponsorship of the Department of Psychology and the College of Law

Social/Personality Dr. Rich Wiener Includes an applied social/program evaluation emphasis
