Remedy Installation Client Install Directions

DOWNLOADS

To download the client for Win2000, WinXP, WinNT,or WinME, to download.

For other OS client access, you will utilize the web client

INSTALLATION

  1. If this is a new installation, proceed to step 5.
    If you had a previous version of Remedy on your machine, AND
    you had any macros or reports you want to save, proceed to step 2,
    otherwise proceed to step 3.
  2. Save your ..\Home\arcmds folder to a temporary folder.
  3. UNINSTALL the previous version of Remedy by going to
    Start-> Settings-> Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs.
    Select 'Remedy User 6.x'. Press the Add/Remove Button.
    When the uninstall is complete, you will be prompted if you want to
    delete the ..\Remedy\Home directory. Say YES. NOTE: This will remove
    any preferences, macros, and/or reports you have previously saved.
    (The new version of Remedy saves the ARUser executable in a ..\Program Files\AR System folder and the arcmds directory in the
    ...Documents and Settings\USERNAME\AR System\Home\arcmds folder. That is why we saved the ...\Home\arcmds files to a temporary folder.)
  4. Restart your machine.
  5. Locate the downloaded executable on your 'Desktop' and double-click it
    to install the Remedy User client. You will be asked to select a language
    for the installation, choose English. You will have choices regarding installation
    of an ODBC client and Crystal Reports. Leave them both selected and press 'Next'.
    Select the default component, 'English' and press 'Next'. The default installation
    directories are displayed. Choose the defaults unless you wish to install on a
    different drive. Press 'Next'. You will then be prompted to enter the Remedy Server
    location. Press 'Add', and enter remedywin.unl.edu as the server name. Press 'OK',
    and then 'Next'. The installation will proceed until finished.
  6. If you saved your ..\Home\arcmds directory, copy it into the new ..\Home\arcmds directory.
LOGIN & OPTIONS
  1. Login to the User Tool utilizing your email alias (lowercase) as the
    Login Name and your NUID as the password.
    Ex. Login = gsmith12; password = 04312765.
  2. You will need to set up your personal account before setting your 'Options'.
    To set up your personal account, go to the menu, select Tools-> Account-> Users.
    From the Users display, select 'Add'. In the 'User' field, enter your login name.
    a. If you will be the only user on the machine, use the default Home directory
    to store preferences. Proceed to step 3.
    b. If multiple users will be using the same machine you should define
    separate folders to store preferences. Copy your user name. In the Home
    directory field, append your user name to the end of the path.
    Click 'Ok'.
  3. Make sure the remedywin server has a green checkmark to the left of it. This
    associates your user name and the server.
  4. Before you close the 'Account' pop up box, notice your AR Home Folder path.
    a. If this is a new installation, proceed with setting your preferences
    from the menu, Tool-> Options.
    b. If you saved your ..\Home\arcmds folder, copy the arcmd files into your
    arcmds AR Home folder path. EX. Open the \temp\Home\arcmds
    folder. Open the ..\Remedy\Home\arcmds folder. Copy the files from the
    \temp\arcmds folder into the ..\Remedy\Home\arcmds folder.
