Introduction to the Virtual Resource Room

The UNL Virtual Resource Room is a small website that contains links to the many documents, websites, and other resources required as part of the accreditation process. In the past, the resource room was just that -- a room, stuffed with files and reports and so on. By making the resource room "virtual", the documents are even more accessible than before.

  Links to items referenced in the self-study, organized by chapter.
• Items that Support the Self-study
  Links to items that were not included in the Self-study, but which support the Self-study.
• Items Required by the NCA
  Links to items required by the NCA organized in categories.

Organization of the Virtual Resource Room

The Virtual Resource Room is divided into three sections

• Items Referenced in the Self-study
  Throughout the Self-study appear hundreds of references to documents, websites, and other resources. This section of the Virtual Resource Room collects all of those references, sorted by chapter, making them easy to find.
• Items that Support the Self-study
  These are items that were not included as part of the Self-study (i.e. as an appendix), but which support the Self-study.
• Items Required by the NCA
  Many items are required as part of the accreditation process. Those items can be found in this section.

The Resource Number

Each resource in the Virtual Resource Room is given a unique identifying number. The number serves two purposes: (1) To make finding items referenced in the Self-study easier to find online; and (2) To make URLs shorter and easier to remember for later recall and retrieval without having to go through the Virtual Resource Room.

Each resource number is composed of two parts, separated by a dash. The first part can be identified as follows:

• Numbers 1 through 9: Items found in chapters 1-9 of the Self-study
• SD: Supporting documents
• NCA: Items required for the accreditation

The second part is simply a number representing the order of the items. Here are some examples:

• 1-3: The identifying number 1-3 tells us that this resource is the third item referenced in chapter 1 of the Self-study.
• SD-2: The identifying number SD-2 tells us that this resource is the second supporting document
• NCA-12: The identifying number NCA-2 tells us that this resource is the 12th item listed in the section of items required by the NCA

Accessing Resources

There are two ways to access items in the Virtual Resource Room. The first is to navigate through this site to the section you are interested in, and then click on the link to the item you want. Or, if you know the ID number of the item you are looking for (e.g. you are reading the Self-study and one item in particular caught your attention), you can simply type it into the "Go To Resource" box in the left column of each page, and click "Go".
