School & Career
- Majors: Vocal Performance and Music Education
- Voice: Soprano
- Private teacher: Donna Harler-Smith
- Expected graduation: December 2008
- Career goals: I love the thought of teaching elementary general music, but I also would love the chance to become a professional singer and teach lesson to high schoolers and up. After I graduate, I'll go to grad school for vocal performance.
- Who has inspired me: Of course my parents for their constant support of me, more than I deserve most of the time; they are both very musical, and them wanting me to be happy in a profession I choose has always inspired me to want to be HAPPY with my decisions and to follow that rather than to just take the easy way, which might not be the best for me. Along with them, my Uncle Al has always been an inspiration to be, for he did follow his dream to be a music teacher and was VERY successful; even though he was going crazy most of the time, he was happy with the young adults he had going through his door every year and gave them the best high school experience he could. And even though he is now "retired," he is still working for a small Catholic high school and building their program from nothing to now going to competitions and doing well!
- Other interests: I like dogs very much, especially Bichons, but I also have been brought up, my entire life, with Arabian horses; even though I do not have the time that I used to with them, I still LOVE having the opportunity to go home and go for a ride somewhere, just me, my dad, two of our amazing horses, and the open road...

Sigma Alpha Iota
- Year initiated: 2005
- Initiating chapter: Kappa
- Why I joined SAI: It's a great place to meet friends and great networking for the future. SAI is a wonderful organization in general, full of amazing women (and some men) around the country! It's also a great, safe place for us to get to perform for people outside of our own studios and receive feedback.
- The best part of SAI: Sisterhood, leadership, and helping other women to find SAI and maybe find some confidence to become leaders and organizers in our chapter here!
- Why you should join SAI: It's a fantastic organization for networking anywhere across the country, and you develop immediate friends who know what you are going through and are willing to help you academically, musically, and spiritually. SAI is a safe place for you to speak your mind and a great place to perform services not only for the campus, but also for the community. You can be a part of a group with other fantastic women not only in the whole country, but in our own community and school - we have amazing members among our own faculty!! Check them out!
- My favorite SAI memory: Getting the chance to encourage possible members to become Members in Training, helping them grow in their knowledge of the fraternity, and then watching them cross over to becoming members. Our initiation ceremony is so beautiful, it is hard not to cry to see some of the best women (heart and soul) cross over from MIT to SAI member.
