Career I Sigma Alpha Iota
Career
- Degrees: M.M. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Orchestral Conducting (2007); B.A. from the University of Wyoming in Flute Performance
- Teachers: Dr. Tyler G. White and Dr. Michael Griffith (conducting); Rod Garnett (flute)
- Career goals: My career goals are varied. I plan on continuing on for my DMA in Orchestral Conducting; however, this will have to wait until my husband is finished with his Ph.D. So, in the meantime I am going to volunteer my time with the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra and look for local work as a chamber player and teacher.
- Who has inspired me: My entire family are musicians; they all inspire me in some form or another. I have been influenced by everything: Beethoven, Stravinsky, Frank Sinatra, Patsy Cline, The Ramones, The Police, etc... etc... Music in all forms inspires me everyday to get up and keep working!
- Other interests: I send my love to my supporting husband and daughter Madeline and my scamp of a dog Hobbes!

Sigma Alpha Iota
- Year initiated: 2007
- Initiating chapter: Kappa
- Why I joined SAI: Being a musician is very demanding of one's time and energy. Few people truly understand the effort that is put forth in the pursuit of this profession. I joined to take a moment with others in the same position as myself to reflect and encourage one another in our pursuits. I did also join for the professional benefits of demonstrating my care for the profession.
- The best part of SAI: The women in SAI at UNL are terrific. I am quite the newby, having joined just before graduating, but it is obvious that they care for one another and genuinely want to share that with others.
- Why you should join SAI: As a young or old musician, it is easy to feel overwhelmed, as if you exist in your own little practice room. SAI allows you to meet and bond with people who have mutual ideals and goals. SAI also allows for a greater opportunity to serve in the community, bringing even greater meaning to our pursuit as musicians.
