Sigma Alpha Iota

- Initiating chapter: Sigma Beta (Ohio University)
- Year affiliated with Kappa: 2005
- Previous affiliations: Delta Eta (Northern Arizona University), 2003-2005; Sigma Beta (Ohio University), 2000-2003
- Leadership positions: President (1 year), Treasurer (4 years), Sergeant-at-Arms (2 years), Webmaster (5 years), Province Day Chair (1 year), Fundraising Chair (2 years), Alumnae Liaison (2 years), and Social Chair (1 year)
- Why I joined SAI: My best friend Katy told me I should! But then I thought about it more and realized that SAI is a group of wonderful, dedicated women who would support my efforts; it would also offer me the chance to give back to the musical community.
- The best part of SAI: The people! I've moved across the country twice, and it was nice knowing I had sisters waiting in my new home, even when I didn't know anyone else.
- Why you should join SAI: Besides its wonderful members, SAI offers many wonderful opportunities, including performances, scholarships, loans, grants, networking, community service, and leadership opportunities. It's great to be part of something so large that has a world-wide impact!
- My favorite SAI memory: When I moved to Flagstaff, the chapter at NAU had only two members, one of whom went inactive at the end of that semester. Between the member who remained active, a transfer student from Wisconsin, and myself, we built the chapter into a strong, thriving group that many women wanted to join - we had 12 members when I graduated and had just hosted Omicron Province Day!
