Dinos and disasters at Museum Feb. 19 'Dinosaurs and Disasters' is the featured program at the University of Nebraska State Museum Feb. 19 with demonstrations and hands-on activities presented by scientists from the museum and the geosciences department. Graduate and undergraduate geology students at UNL will staff some 15 stations throughout the museum, including one where visitors will be able to bring their fossils and rocks to be identified by an expert. The 'Dinosaurs' portion of the program will also include stations on: preparation of a plesiosaur fossil; dinosaur eggs; dinosaur teeth; 'Why can't I have a pet dino?'; dinosaur extinction; and a fossil dig. The disasters to be examined include tsunamis, earthquakes, landslides and volcanoes. The program will be presented at the NU State Museum (Morrill Hall), 14th and U streets on the UNL City Campus, during normal museum hours, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Individual admission to the museum is $4 for adults, $2 for children (5-18 years old); children under 4 are free. Family admission (up to two adults with children) is $8. Parking is available next to the museum.
