UNL groups join March 18 'Teachers' Night Out' event

Nine UNL entities are taking part in Teachers' Night Out, 4:30 to 8 p.m., March 18 in the Lied Center for Performing Arts' Johnny Carson Theater.

Offered for the first time, Teachers' Night Out is a free open house for area teachers to explore community resources that could enhance classroom learning. More than 20 community resources will participate.

Participating groups from UNL include Arts are Basic, the Great Plains Art Museum, Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, Lentz Center for Asian Culture, Lied Center, Sheldon Museum of Art, UNL Extension and the University of Nebraska State Museum.

Participating organizations will display materials and answer questions during the event

Teachers' Night Out also includes performances by teaching artists Pippa White and Charles Ahovissi from 5 to 5:45 p.m. George Hein, professor emeritus at Lesley University and a leading expert in informal education, will discuss 'Learning and Experiencing Beyond Tests, Textbooks and Walls' at 6 p.m.

Complimentary food and a cash bar will be available. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the event.
