Col. Carlo Tosti (right) explains an X-15 to Chancellor Clifford Hardin. Tosti was featured at the the University of Nebraska's first International Affairs Preview, held June 22, 1957.
 Tosti, a special assistant to the commader of the Air Research and Development Command at Andrews Air Base near Washington, D.C., presented a complete history of aviation, including the X-15 rocket-powered airplane project and the space race with the Soviet Union.
 "The X-15 is an evolutionary step for man into space," Tosti said, explaining that the rocket plane would provide valuable data for spaceship designers.
