Second-year project, Thompson Forum delve into democracy

Faculty help focus colloquium

UNIVERSITY COMMUNICATIONS
The second yearlong Nebraska Colloquium will engage the entire UNL community in discussion on a topic of importance - Democracy. Also the theme for this season's E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues, the colloquium lectures and a new Honors Forum series of UNL faculty talks will focus discussion on this one theme.
A schedule of lectures and information about opportunities to participate in the community conversation are at www.unl.edu/nc.
The Nebraska Colloquium raises the level of intellectual discourse among UNL students, faculty and staff under the framework of a campuswide theme that serves as an organizing mechanism for unit activities and events that contribute to the theme.
Under the leadership of professor Patrice Berger, the University Honors program will host Honors Forum talks as part of the Nebraska Colloquium to complement the E.N. Thompson Forum theme. Each Honors Forum talk will feature a UNL faculty member. The campuswide colloquium was suggested by the 2003 Transitions to University Task Force, and the Nebraska Colloquium was started in 2007 by Undergraduate Studies. Last year's theme was the environment.
Honors Forum talks are open to the public in the Nebraska Union Auditorium, beginning at 7 p.m. Information about related activities, events, symposia can be submitted to rkean1@unl.edu.
