Architecture Dean Finalists Named; Mutunayagam Is Interim

A University of Nebraska-Lincoln search committee has narrowed its list of potential candidates to three for dean of the College of Architecture.

Richard Edwards, senior vice chancellor for academic affairs, announced that finalists are H. Gordon Brooks, Wayne Drummond and Frederick Steiner and. The new dean will replace W. Cecil Steward, who retired Dec. 31 after 26 years. The candidates are scheduled for campus visits in January.

Since 1990, Brooks has been dean of the College of the Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Drummond is professor of architecture at the University of Florida, where he served as dean the College of Architecture from 1990 through last May.

Steiner is professor and director (since 1989) at the School of Planning and Landscape Architecture in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Arizona State University.

N. Brito Mutunayagam, associate dean and professor of community and regional planning at NU, has been appointed interim dean effective Jan. 1. He will serve until a permanent dean takes office.


Rita Kean Appointed Interim HRFS Dean

Rita Kean, professor and chair of the department of textiles, clothing and design in the College of Human Resources and Family Sciences, has been appointed interim dean of the college effective Jan. 1. Patricia Crews is the interim chair of the department of textiles, clothing and design during Kean's appointment.

The announcement was made by Irv Omtvedt, vice chancellor of the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Rick Edwards, senior vice chancellor for academic affairs.

Kean takes over for retiring Dean Karen Craig. Kean will serve in the interim capacity until a new dean is selected and on board, Omtvedt said. Craig retired Dec. 31.


Glen Nelson to Colorado Post

Glen Nelson, director of shared services and financial analysis, has accepted the position of vice president for finance and chief financial officer for Colorado Christian University near Denver.
