Lied Friends group fund-raiser gala Jan. 12

Hollywood's golden era will come alive again as "SS Lied Sails with the Stars," the Jan. 12 fund-raising gala "cruise" of the Friends of Lied. The Lied Center for Performing Arts will be transformed into a spectacular "cruise ship" for an evening of fun, food and entertainment. The gala is the Friends of Lied's biennial fund-raiser to benefit the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and an opportunity for complimentary publicity photos to be taken of all guests. After a meal catered by Hap Abraham, guests will be entertained by comedian Juli Burney.

Then party-goers can dance to the music of The Confidentials. Guests can also try their luck at bingo or test their own star potential at karaoke.

The Nebraska Artists Silent Auction will feature art works donated by Roger Bruhn, Judy Burton, Neil Christensen, Hal Holoun, Keith Jacobshagen, Karen Kunc, Susan Puelz, John Spence and others. The auction will also feature jewelry by Kerri Votaw Kliewer and Borsheim's. Rounding out the auction will be a red-tailed hawk sculpture titled "Poised for Attack" by Cliff Hollestelle.
