Easterling Interim Director of National Agency
William Easterling, director of the Great Plains Regional Center for
Global
Environmental Change at the UNL, has been named interim director of the
center's coordinating agency.
Easterling has assumed interim duties with the National Institute for
Global
Environmental Change, headquartered at the University of
California-Davis.
NIGEC was formed in 1989 to supply the U.S. Department of Energy with
information
about the effects on the Earth's climate of human-induced changes from
producing
and using energy sources. The institute organizes and funds joint,
collaborative
research on diverse aspects of the Earth's changing climate.
Patricia Crews Elected AATCC Chairwoman
Patricia Crews, professor of Textiles, Clothing and Design and chair of
the UNL Museum Studies Program, was elected chairwoman of the Midwest
Section
of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists at their
fall
meeting in Chicago, Ill., on Oct. 11. She was also recently elected
chairperson
of the AATCC national research committee on UV Protective Textiles formed
to develop test methods for measurement of ultraviolet protective
performance
of fabrics and clothing. She serves on several other research committees
including Colorfastness to Light Test Methods, Correlation of Laboratory
Tests with End Use Performance, and the Textile Education Subcommittee.
Founded in 1921, AATCC has more than 7,000 individual members and more
than
200 corporate members.
