White to Chair NET Commission

John W. White, Jr., president of Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, was elected chair of the Nebraska Educational Telecommunication at the group's monthly meeting in January.

White, who has the longest tenure of any current president of a Nebraska college or university, will lead the Commission's monthly meetings throughout 1996. Commissioner Keith Blackledge, senior editor of the North Platte Telegraph, was elected vice-chair. Former chair Beverly B. Fellman of Omaha was elected to the third position on the commission's executive committee. Jack McBride, Lincoln, was re-elected secretary/treasurer; and Sue Gildersleeve, Lincoln, was elected assistant secretary/treasurer.

Other commissioners are Sharon Rankin, Chadron; Lee Jones, Lincoln; Douglas Christensen, Lincoln (Nebraska Commissioner of Educuation); Harold McClure, Kearney; Arlene Nelson, Grand Island; Jack Parks, Bellevue; Herbert Schimek, Lincoln; and LaRue Wunderlich, Lincoln.

The Nebraska Educational Telecommunications Commission holds one of the two broadcast licenses for the Nebraska ETV Network (the University of Nebraska holds the other) and oversees a variety of public telecommunications activities.


Gradwohl Receives Educator Award

John Gradwohl, a Ross McCollum Professor in the College of Law and a professor of educational administration and accountancy, received the "Outstanding Legal Educator Award" from the Nebraska State Bar Foundation at its 1996 annual meeting.
