Pepsi Contract Goal Is Good Service, Value for University

The exclusive pouring contract with Pepsi Co. of Lincoln is in full swing. The transfer, which began July 1, includes all vending machines dispensing canned beverages, cold food, hot drinks and snacks.

Pepsi has replaced aging canned beverage machines with new, computerized, state-of-the-art machines. While the company's first weeks on campus were filled with time finding each UNL building, vending site and loading dock, the company has been responsive to the UNL users' questions, requests and problems.

Eventually a tag will be posted in each location with a name and room number of the contact person in the building (or area) who can help with the user's immediate needs.

Until these notices are posted or if you have questions, concerns, requests, or experience recurring problems with a particular machine, contact UNL's liaison with Pepsi, Sandy Watmore, 472-6700. The ultimate goal is to develop a positive relationship with Pepsi and assure UNL consumers improved vending services.

Roger Welsch Talks With Historian Gary Moulton

Gary Moulton, UNL professor of history and editor of the journals of the Lewis and Clark expedition, is the guest on Roger Welsch &, when the interview series airs at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 29 on the statewide Nebraska ETV Network.

"The year 2004 marks the bicentennial of Lewis and Clark's explorations of our region," Welsch says. "As we get closer to that anniversary, we'll be hearing a lot more about these two famous explorers. We'll get started by talking with Gary Moulton. He's devoted a good chunk of his life to editing the journals of Lewis and Clark and making them available to the rest of us. His series of books is something of an adventure into the unknown itself, and he's the perfect person to give us some insights into who these men really were, their accomplishments, their triumphs and their failures."

The weekly television series features humorist and author Welsch in discussion with a variety of Nebraskans - from authors and educators to historians and prominent citizens - whose contributions to the good life in Nebraska make for interesting conversation.

Roger Welsch & is a production of the Cultural Affairs Unit of University of Nebraska-Lincoln Television for broadcast on Nebraska ETV. The weekly series is underwritten by Aliant Cellular, Omaha Steaks and read all about it! bookstores.
