Holmes, Korth Receive University KudosPam Holmes and LeAnn Korth received the University Kudos Award at the Aug. 27 meeting of the NU Regents.
With her expertise in word processing, spread sheets and presentation software, she is frequently sought out for advice and technical assistance by other secretaries, professors, professional staff members and students. "Pam is simply an outstanding employee and a great person. She is
well organized, very productive, always efficient and accurate, punctual
and above all, Pam has a smile for everyone," says her
nominator. Korth is an Inventory Control Clerk in the Shipping and Receiving Unit of Distance Education in the Division of Continuing Studies. She maintains all records, both purchases and sales, on the inventory for the bookstore for the high school and college independent study programs. Her extremely accurate work in reconciling the annual inventory was praised by all her nominators. "LeAnn is outstanding at this job. Her attention to detail and her perseverance make her the perfect Inventory Control Clerk," says one of her nominators. "As I work with LeAnn, I am struck by her dedication and
commitment
to her job. She sees what she does as serving not just the Division or
the
University, but as serving students," says another of her
nominators.
Marker, Carpenter Named Interim Directors Dan Carpenter and John Marker have been appointed to interim director positions with University Services under the auspices of the vice chancellor for business and finance. Carpenter is interim director of Parking and Transit Services and Marker is interim director of Landscape Services. They will serve in the posts until national searches are completed to fill these positions permanently. Carpenter started at Parking and Transit Services in the fall of 1997 as a graduate research assistant. There, he gained first-hand planning experience to supplement his graduate studies in the Department of Community and Regional Planning in the College of Architecture. He expects to complete his master's degree in December 1999. During the past two years he assisted in the research and development of the Parking and Transit Services Master Plan in addition to other parking issues including parking operations, benchmarking other institutions, circulation and parking structure studies and construction. Marker graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from UNL
in 1985 and has worked at the university for 22 years. He has been
director
of Custodial Services since 1989 and since 1996 he has also directed
special
projects and activities for Facilities Management & Planning in a
temporary
appointment. |
