Transfer Student Scholarships

For full scholarship consideration, transfer students must complete and submit an Admissions Application, Personal Statement (Nebraska residents only), and any additional supporting documentation to the UNL Office of Admissions by March 1st for students beginning in the fall semester and October 1st for students beginning in the spring semester.

Transfer Regents Scholarship

Transfer Regents Scholarships are offered each year to students who graduate from Nebraska high schools and transfer from Nebraska community colleges. To be eligible for these scholarships you must complete the application materials listed above, graduate from a Nebraska high school and community college, have a cumulative transfer grade point average of 3.5 or above, and have completed over 75% of your courses at a Nebraska community college (30 hours toward UNL degree). Scholarships are limited to U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States. UNL Transfer Regents Scholarships provide in-state tuition for up to two years, provided recipients maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5, successfully complete 24 credit hours each academic year (fall and spring semesters), and complete a minimum of nine graded hours (not pass/no pass) each semester.

Transfer Student Scholarships

Transfer Student Scholarships provide a $1000 scholarship to students based upon academic performance and involvement at a previous postsecondary institution. For scholarship consideration, students must have completed a minimum of 28 semester hours by the end of the academic year (14 hours by the end of the first semester) in which they submit their application.

Aaron Douglas Scholarship

These scholarships are awarded to out-of-state students who exhibit superior academic performance. Scholarships provide from $2,200 a year up to the difference between resident and nonresident tuition. To be considered, candidates must have completed a minimum of 28 semester hours by the end of the academic year (14 hours by the end of the first semester) in which they submit their scholarship applications.

Nebraska Legacy Scholarship

Available to children of University of Nebraska graduates, the Nebraska Legacy Scholarship provides qualified applicants with one of two levels of scholarship awards, one which pays the full nonresident portion of tuition and another which pays 50% of the nonresident portion of tuition charges, for up to six semesters of enrollment. A minimum cumulative transfer GPA of 3.0 is required for scholarship consideration. High school performance and standardized test scores are also considered. A student offered the Nebraska Legacy Scholarship must remain an out-of-state student throughout enrollment.

Honors Program Scholarships

Honors Program Scholarships are awarded to students who transfer fewer than 60 hours to UNL and who are accepted to participate in the University Honors Program. The scholarship will pay up to $250 per semester, during the fall and spring semesters, for textbooks for up to 135 credit hours (including hours transferred to UNL) or the completion of a bachelor's degree, whichever comes first. The scholarship is renewable as long as a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 is maintained, 24 credit hours are successfully completed each academic year (fall and spring semesters), a minimum of nine graded hours (not pass/no pass) are completed each semester, and the student continues in the Honors Program. Midwest Student Exchange Program Scholarships

Midwest Student Exchange Program Scholarships are awarded to academically qualified nonresident students from Minnesota, Michigan, Missouri, Kansas, North Dakota, or Wisconsin who exhibit superior academic performance at a previously attended postsecondary institution. A MSEP student pays 150 percent of the institution's regular resident tuition plus any required fees. To be considered, candidates must have completed a minimum of 28 semester hours with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA by the end of the academic year (14 hours by the end of the first semester) in which they submit their Admissions Application.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

This $500 award is available to students transferring from a Nebraska community college.

Native American Community/Tribal College Scholarship

The Native American Community/Tribal College Scholarship is awarded to associate degree recipients from certain Native American community/tribal colleges and universities. The award provides in-state tuition coverage until completion of a bachelor's degree.
