University Honors Scholarships for Freshmen

The University offers two honors scholarships: the University Honors Program and the J.D. Edwards Program for students interested in Business and Computer Science.

For scholarship consideration, incoming freshmen must complete an Admissions Application and submit supporting documentation by January 15th, as well as take the ACT or SAT by the December national test dates. A separate application is required for the programs listed below and is available at admissions.unl.edu/apply.

Honors Program Scholarship

The scholarship will pay up to $250 per semester, during the fall and spring semesters, for textbooks for up to 135 credit hours, four years, or the completion of a bachelor's degree, whichever occurs first, inclusive of all other undergraduate coursework at all postsecondary educational institutions attended. Renewal of this scholarship for each subsequent year is dependent upon the recipient maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or ranking in the upper 25% of the relevant class in a degree-granting undergraduate college. In addition, a student must successfully complete 24 credit hours each academic year (fall and spring semesters), with a minimum of nine graded (not pass/no pass) credit hours each semester, and must meet all requirements to remain in the Honors Program.
