Welcome!

On behalf of the brothers of Sigma Nu Fraternity, we the Rush Chairs would like to welcome you to the University of Nebraska’s Greek System. Sigma Nu has put together a rush team that represents the house’s wide diversity.

Sigma Nu's brotherhood is unique, as you will see when you meet the members. Sigma Nu strives to excel in scholarship, athletics, and social activities; yet even with our success, we retain a warm, down-to-earth fellowship. Our success stems from our determination. Sigma Nu strives to be the best in all aspects of Fraternity life. We offer an environment in which you can excel and grow. Sigma Nu does not exist day by day; we look toward the future.

The Delta Eta chapter of Sigma Nu here at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has won the top national award given out by Sigma Nu Nationals for four straight years. We hope you have a great experience with rush and we encourage you to rush Sigma Nu.

The Rush Team

Matt Connolly is a Junior Business Administration major who attended Omaha Burke High School. Matt is very involved on campus with such activities as Student Government, University Program Council, and the Homecoming Steering Committee.

John McMillan is a Junior Advertising Major from Omaha who attended Skutt Catholic High School. John loves to go out and have a great time. As a part of Greek Ambassadors, John is devoted to encouraging students to go Greek. This is John’s second year being a Sigma Nu Rush Chair.

Matt Dostal is a Junior Business Administration Major who plans on attending Law School after his undergraduate studies. Matt attended Creighton Prep High School. Matt has earned an impressive 3.81 GPA as well as being known as the most knowledge and craziest Husker Football fan in the house.

Chris Moyer is a Junior Finance major who attended Cross County High School. Chris and his twin brother Steve, who is the Social Chair of the house, are originally from Stromsburg, Nebraska. Both of the Moyers have over a dozen Sigma Nu’s in their family and are third generation Sigma Nu Legacies.

Hazing

Hazing is frequently a topic of discussion of Rushees and Rush Chairmen. Following the steps of our founders, Sigma Nu does not partake in any type of hazing activities. Sigma Nu Fraternity was created in 1869 on the basis of a non-hazing Fraternity. We believe that by hazing, we would not be living up to our motto of “Love, Truth and Honor.” Sigma Nu builds a brotherhood not tearing a man down by hazing. Instead we bring men up by teaching them the history of Sigma Nu and our own chapter along with giving them the life skills necessary to success in the years following college.

NSE days

Sigma Nu has the following designated days for NSE Greek open house:

June: 7th, 14th, 21st, 27th

July: 7th

Although these are the days in which we must have our house open, Sigma Nu's door is always open. Members are presently living in the house and no matter what NSE day it is, there will always be a Sigma Nu around the house.

We understand that for many freshmen that are not from the Lincoln area, coming to the University for your NSE day can be quite the hassle. This is why we allow rushees to stay at the house the night before their NSE day if they would like. It is a great chance for guys out of state to get the full Sigma Nu experience with their limited time in Nebraska during the summer.
