Flicks & Finance Event activities included a showing of a financial documentary, "Maxed Out," and a discussion about the Lincoln economy from the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. This event was sponsored by Lincoln Benefit Life, Mayor's Commission on Women, and Friends of MCW.
Money Smart Week Nebraska is a public awareness initiative developed for Nebraskans to help them build their financial knowledge. Activities included: College Night - "Financial Quiz Show" - Sponsored by the University of Nebraska Federal Credit Union and Community Event - "Exploring Your Credit Score" - Sponsored by the UNL Tax Credit Campaign.
More Money with Peter Bielagus presented by Peter Bielagus Peter focused on giving students tips on how to manage credit and the importance of credit scores. This event was sponsored by the University Program Council.
Money Rules presented by Bill Pratt "Money Rules" was a free and fun-filled seminar presented by Bill Pratt, author of Extra Credit: 7 Things Every College Student Should Know About Credit, Debt and Ca$h. Students that attended learned key tips about: budgets, credit & debit cards, jobs & internships, credit scores, identity theft, and contracts. "Money Rules" was taped and broadcast on NET2. This event was sponsored by NSLP, a national, private, nonprofit corporation with nearly 25 years of experience providing services to higher education.
Connecting Young Nebraskans Conference Connecting Young Nebraskans is a network of citizens under 40 who live in rural Nebraska. At the Connecting Young Nebraskans conference, SMMC representatives presented a highly interactive session based on the needs and questions of those participating. Topics discussed included re-paying higher education debt, planning with irregular income, and saving for education and retirement.
Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education Conference The SMMC presented a session about how to start a financial education program for college students. The Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education is a nonprofit, professional organization dedicated to educating, training, and certifying financial counselors and educators.
Women & Money Conference Women of all ages were invited to learn how to become more financially successful, take control of their money decisions and get their questions answered. SMMC representatives were part of a panel that answered participants' personal financial questions. This event was sponsored by Friends of the Mayor's Commission on Women.
