Answers to Application Questions |
Question 12: What would be an appropriate reservation (rebuttal) to the claim that television causes violent behavior?
Answer Choices:
(a) "My sister watched cartoons and tried to hit me over the head with a frying pan". Sorry. This would actually be support for the argument not a reservation explaining the logical exception(s) to the argument. This actually could be a reservation if the person's sister never watched TV, however, weh think that this is clearly not the case.
(b) "Unless the programming is educational and is actually anti-violence". Correct! This statement explains a logical exception to the claim about violence. If TV became anti-violence then the link between TV and violent behavior would go away.
(c) "TV really just rots a person's brain". Sorry. If anything, this would support the argument. (This is your brain, this is your brain on TV . . .)
(d) "Except most music videos which make people want to kill themselves". Again, this would probably actually support the argument.
