Participant Responsibilities

The Summer Research Program offers outstanding undergraduates the chance to work closely with faculty and graduate student mentors in an intensive summer research experience.
The program gives undergraduate students first-hand exposure to the experiences of graduate school and faculty life by placing them with faculty whose work is closely related to their academic interests and career goals. Students work under faculty mentorship either on an individual basis or as part of a research team that may include graduate students, research scientists, and other program students. During the program, participants master important research skills and contribute to projects that are a vital part of the academic experience.
At the end of the program each student will turn in an abstract and final paper, and will present their findings at the UNL Summer Research Symposium.
Participants are expected to:- Pursue substantive research projects over the course of the program
- Make a full-time commitment to their research
- Present research findings at the UNL Summer Research Symposium
- Turn in a final abstract, research paper, and poster presentation at the end of the program
