Welcome to Academic Affairs!

The Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (SVCAA) at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, is responsible for the administration, coordination, and development of all UNL academic activities and functions.

Led by Dr. Barbara Couture, under direction of the chancellor, the office provides academic leadership for UNL programs and works in cooperation with the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The UNL academic deans report directly to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Those deans represent the following: College of Architecture, College of Arts & Sciences, College of Business Administration, College of Education & Human Sciences, College of Engineering, Hixson-Lied College of Fine & Performing Arts, College of Journalism & Mass Communication, the College of Law, and University Libraries.

Other entities coordinated by this office are the Confucius Institute, Extended Education and Outreach, International Affairs, the Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management, Nebraska Educational Television (NET), the Office of Undergraduate Studies (including General Studies), the Public Policy Center, and Summer Sessions.

Special Events & Activities

The next Faculty Workshop organized by the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is:

  • Thursday, Dec. 10 - Strategies to Support Teaching and Develop a Teaching Portfolio with Associate Dean Amy Goodburn, 3-4:30 p.m., Nebraska Union.


The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has updated its policies on the H1N1 flu at http://emergency.unl.edu. These policies focus particularly on faculty, staff, and student attendance. For more information about preventing the flu and its symptoms, visit the University Health Center's web site.

This fall, UNL is launching its initiative to adopt best practices to recruit and retain diverse faculty members.
