About Academic Affairs: Roles and Responsibilities
The Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs promotes academic excellence at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln by:
- coordinating academic strategic planning;
- supporting and coordinating faculty and academic administrative hiring, promotion, and professional development;
- rewarding and recognizing faculty excellence;
- enhancing learning environments for academic programs;
- allocating and directing resources that support teaching, research, and engagement;
- encouraging and reviewing academic programs that respond to the changing needs of the faculty, students, state of Nebraska, and our global society;
- coordinating summer academic programs;
- working cooperatively to support programs reporting to the Office of the Vice Chancellor of the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources; and
- assisting our nine colleges, Extended Education and Outreach, Information Services, International Affairs, the J. D. Edwards Honors Program in Computer Science and Management, Nebraska Educational Telecommunications, the Public Policy Center, Undergraduate Studies, and University Libraries in their own efforts to promote academic excellence.
