Because assessment lies largely in the hands of faculty they have the opportunity to become the primary decision makers about their educational programs.
This involves faculty:
- setting their own goals depending on what they see their program valuing,
- identifying processes they feel meaningfully assess those goals,
- making their own determinations about whether students are meeting their goals, and
- developing their own recommendations (often with the backing of strong evidence) for future improvements.
