Slide 15: Benefit 1: Faculty become primary decision-makers

Slide 15 of 26

Notes:

Because assessment lies largely in the hands of faculty they have the opportunity to become the primary decision makers about their educational programs.

This involves faculty:

  • setting their own goals depending on what they see their program valuing,
  • identifying processes they feel meaningfully assess those goals,
  • making their own determinations about whether students are meeting their goals, and
  • developing their own recommendations (often with the backing of strong evidence) for future improvements.
