Notes:
While we initially implemented outcomes assessment because of accreditation mandates (both regional and professional), we now need to mold our assessment processes to produce evidence about student learning outcomes that are useful and meaningful to the particular decisions being made by each unit. In other words, how do we make the assessment process work for us.
The remainder of this presentation has three goals.
First, clarify the purpose for engaging in outcomes assessment.
Second, outline the potential benefits that can be realized if we engage in an effective assessment process.
Third, identify resources that can assist units in developing meaningful and useful outcomes assessment evidence.
