ITLE Year 2 Teaching Fellows
Creativity 101 ($5,000)
Elizabeth Ingraham, Art and Art History
This project addresses the possibilities of an arts-based course in creative thinking skills that will enable students to innovate, reframe and solve problems and to push beyond assumptions.
These skills cross disciplines because they can illuminate any problem in any subject matter. To compete in an increasingly connected world, the need for flexibility, fluency and adaptability – all characteristics of creative thinking – are paramount.
The course will lead students to apply the technology of creativity, learn how to think, integrate the analytical and the intuitive, asking questions that lead to the generation of powerful ideas, and focusing attention to work more efficiently.
The prototype of the course will be an honors seminar in fall 2006 or spring 2007. The prototype would then be developed as a lecture and recitation course and a workshop for high schoolers.
