Programs of Excellence Program Philosophy
The Programs of Excellence initiative at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln strategically invests in programs consistent both with the priorities identified by the Board of Regents and our campus plans and initiatives. This process has been designed to:
- Build national recognition that is not confined by our traditional organizational structure;
- Concentrate on programs and multi disciplinary efforts, or issues facing Nebraska;
- Integrate with our campus-wide strategic planning process;
- Operate under a competitive funding review, designed to assure the highest valued use of funds;
- Allow for requests to be developed by any member of our faculty, recognizing resident in each of faculty member is the excellence for which we are striving;
- Respond to opportunities for excellence identified by our senior leadership;
- Expect an investment from supporting colleges/departments and potential for external support;
- Build on progress achieved with past funding allocations;
- Involve input and review from our Academic Planning Committee; and
- Re-direct funds that are not expended by the designated program to directly support our existing priorities.
