Auditions and Scholarships
At this time, a portfolio presentation is not required for acceptance into the Design/Technical Production Emphasis option (BFA.), however; scholarships are available. Portfolio presentation and grades are the primary criteria used to award these scholarships; individual awards can range from $500 to $2000.

Portfolio presentation times for scholarships (Freshman Class/Fall 2009) are available on most Fridays by appointment only (through March 6, 2009). Presentations must be made in person on campus, or by special arrangement. Contact the Admissions Coordinator at (402) 472-2072, ext. 1 (theatrearts@unl.edu) for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Student-produced Theatre at UNL

Theatrix is the student run theatre organization under the auspices of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film. Since the early 1990's, Theatrix has continually provided students in all facets of the arts the opportunity to work hands-on and share experiences with professors and professionals working within the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. Theatrix produces two or three productions each semester with a student director who oversees the organization of the design team, the cast, and all conceptual and creative elements from start to finish. Current and past directors as well as actors and designers have gone on to work professionally in theatre and film in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York.
