Master of Fine Arts: Directing for Stage and Screen

The guiding vision for our directing program is our deep commitment to telling stories in strongly theatrical work, and bravely exploring all the technologies at our disposal.  M.F.A directors will begin with a year for acquisition of skills, concentrating on visual story telling through classes in direction, film production, script analysis, screenwriting and technical design potentials.  The second year each student will complete a three to five minute film and direct a low-budget full-length play.  The third and final year each director will complete a five to seven minute film and direct a fully funded main stage production.

Students admitted into this program are selected through the University / Resident Theatre Association (URTA) interviews.  The next class will be admitted in the fall of 2014 with auditions beginning the spring of 2014.

Teaching Assistantships are available for selected MFA students.
