About Us

Theatrix is the student producing organization affiliated with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Johnny Carson School of Theatre and FIlm. Our 2011-2012 season was themed "The Season of Fire" and included the burning and consuming play "Killer Joe" by Tracy Letts directed by Jordan Deffenbaugh, the fiery ensemble created orginal work "Project #1" directed by Jake Denney, as well as the warming and heartfelt play "Almost Maine" by John Cariani directed by Sean Grosshans 

Past season productions include Compleat Female Stage Beauty in the Fall of 2010 and Shipwrecked! The Amazing Adventures of Louis De Rougemont (as told by himself) in the Fall of 2009. The original works The Inferno and The Techie Ballet and Other Daring Deeds were created for Theatrix in 2010.

In the spring of 2008, Theatrix premiered the New Artists Festival, a showcase of new student playwrights, directors, actors and designers. Our fifth annual festival featured five plays connected by an oil lamp and utilized multimedia, slides and film as five student playwrights and directors collaborated. The Festival continues to challenge students to create new and exciting work.

As a student producing company, Theatrix provides students in all faces of the arts the opportunity to work hands on and share experiences with all professors and professionals working within the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film.

Mission Statement

Theatrix is the student-run theatre company at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, whose purpose is to provide opportunities to create theatre in an environment where students can apply knowledge and techniques in a practical setting.
