About Theta > Rho Chapter History

Rho Chapter HouseThe Rho chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta was founded on April 7, 1887. Rho Chapter was founded by Elizabeth Bonnell Williiams, Minnie Latta Ladd, Gertrude Laws Hardy, Anie Childs Ansley, and Dana Loomis Greer. In 1899, they rented a house located on 13th and R street.

Theta was the first house for women on the Nebraska Campus. The original house, built in 1925, was intended to house 35 girls. After a large addition and much renovation, the house now houses up to 70 girls. In 1955, Rho Chaper hosted Theta's National Convention.
