About Theta > A Message from our President
Hello and welcome to the Kappa Alpha Theta Rho chapter website. I hope that after spending some time browsing through our website that you gain an understanding of what being a Theta at the University of Nebraska is all about. For this purpose I would like to take you, for one day, in the shoes of a Theta.
Monday morning always seems to come too soon after an exciting weekend that a Theta has spent with her sisters. Whether is was spent at the Parochial social, homecoming events, our signature 5k run that raises money for CASA, or perhaps more often times then not it was spent studying for her upcoming tests. After getting ready in our newly remodeled bathrooms, as our house is fortunately always being renovated, a Theta is off to her classes. Scholastics are a main priority for our chapter and it’s members. Our dedication to academic excellence is demonstrated as we are able to surpass the all sorority GPA each semester. However, a Theta not only exceeds in school but out side of the classroom as well.
Because we strive for leadership it has many different shapes and sizes in the Theta house. A Theta is an athlete, a cheerleader, a captain, a member of an organization on campus, a volunteer, a coach, a mentor, a tutor, a Theta officer, and the list could go on and on. Being a Theta opens up many doors of opportunity to become involved both on and off campus.
After classes have ended a Theta is most likely to be found with her sisters. Sisterhood is a huge priority to us at Theta. We celebrate our sisterhood by volunteering in the community at various events, supporting other Greek houses with their philanthropic efforts, or simply staying at the Theta house to watch a movie. It’s true when they say from the outside looking in you don’t understand it, but from the inside looking out, you can’t explain it. It’s hard to explain the essence of what being a Theta actually is, but I hope from walking in the shoes of a Theta for one day, that you can see its more than just scholarship, leadership, volunteer work, and sisterhood, it’s living and leaving a legacy.
Thank you for visiting and I hope that you enjoy the rest of the site,
Codi Carubia
